Godot

In the wrong station
that bleeds away
the railway profits,

on an iron bench
painted dim,
and although its
colourants have been
peeling away
you can tell it is green,

sits Mr Godot,
and the time frozen in
one John Smith & Sons Midland
grieves for the late sun.

I have a sign breathing his name
in my molten hands
in the mirror-station to his,
and I yawn, it is quite late.

 

The Behaviour Pattern of the Illusions

Midnight shakes me awake
just before I fall asleep,
and I move the window’s curtain a bit,
see five of our neighbours
sitting in our front yard looking at my house.

I have a gun by my imagination.
I keep it locked in my conscience.
The summer whistles as the dark
reaches the boiling point.

And then, in the same night
I open the curtain with…

THE behaviour of the words is to surface. This ezine exists to provide a stream for the best of them to float and gybe side by side.

Words Surfacing… is an online literary magazine, published monthly, accepting flash fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction. Preference is given to quality submissions with an emphasis on Literature as continuum and Contemporary Imagism. An anthology of the best work is published annually.

1 Submissions should be sent in the body of the email

2 The subject line should read Your Name _ Submission _ Genre

3 Submissions are limited to four poems  or four flash fictions or one non-fiction writing not exceeding 500 words.

Submissions are accepted year round. Simultaneous submission is accepted, but it is the legal and moral obligation of the writer to communicate in case one or more pieces of the submission is accepted elsewhere. Writings appeared on Facebook is accepted if only the privacy setting of such writings are changed to ‘Only Me’ before such submissions.

5 We revert back with acceptance or rejection within ten days from receiving the same.
